About SECANT
SECANT has been at the forefront of cutting optimisation since its inception by Peninsula Services Limited over 35 years ago.
Peninsula Services Ltd was incorporated in 1987, by scientists from the UKAEA led by Brian Foster, to use the latest cutting-edge linear programming algorithms to solve various industrial manufacturing and distribution problems.
SECANT was one of the first applications developed by the team, and one of the first cutting optimisation systems to address the real-world nesting issues faced by the manufacturing industry. SECANT’s ability to quickly and accurately produce low wastage cutting patterns for all beam saw operations rapidly established it as the optimisation software of choice for companies in the furniture manufacturing, woodworking and metal service industries.
Since then, input from customers who require solutions to their real-world nesting issues has directed the continuing development of SECANT, and the client base has expanded to include customers throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and South Africa. SECANT’s algorithms are also embedded at the heart of various ERP and MRP systems sold across the world.
The company is now led by the original founder’s son Matthew Foster:
“At SECANT, we’re all about making things work smarter, not harder. As the MD, I’m driven by the idea of helping businesses save time, money, and resources with our cutting-edge optimisation software.
