How do I change my blade loss and material trims?

Blade loss (kerf) and trims are set in the cutting controls. You can either change your default settings for these, which will be used when creating any future jobs, or just change the settings for one particular job.

To change the default settings you should click on the 3-bar menu at the top of the main SECANT window and select the menu option System/Controls/Open. Double click on the control set you want to change (e.g. Default.CTL) to display the control dialog and edit the values in the Trims and Kerfs section. Any changes made will apply to any NEW jobs created with this control set, existing jobs which used this control set will be unaffected.

To only change the settings for your current job, from the job dialog display the control information by either clicking on the Controls toolbar button, or select View/Cutting Controls from the 3-bar menu on the job dialog.

Different kerfs may be specified for the blade that cuts the material into strips (Rip kerf) and for the blade that cuts the strips down into finished pieces (Cross kerf).

You can specify different clean edge trims for the front, the back, the top and the bottom of the sheet, and also any trim necessary to re-trim the sheet following a change of cutting direction.
