Running your first job
A SECANT job is a list of the cut pieces that are required, a list of stock materials that may be used to produce these cut pieces and a set of controls that limit the cutting patterns that are allowable (e.g. trims, saw blade loss, etc.). A SECANT job may be for a single material type or for a mixture of material types. This tutorial explains how to run your first job in SECANT – from entering your cut part information and stock availability through to viewing your optimised patterns and reports.
Importing cutting list data from Excel or CSV files
To save you from wasted time and potential rekeying errors when entering your cutting list data, SECANT can import cut part information which is maintained in either Excel spreadsheets, or which has been exported in delimited form from a 3rd party piece of software (e.g. into a Comma Separated Variable or CSV file). This tutorial will walk you through this step by step.
Using the pattern editor
Whilst SECANT generates optimum cutting patterns obeying the rules and controls applied to each job, it may sometimes be necessary to bend or break these rules for a particular reason. Perhaps to overproduce on requirement for a particular part, or to permit a third phase cut for a unique case. SECANT provides a powerful pattern editor that allows us to browse or change the cutting patterns as required. This tutorial explains its functionality.
